This cattle breed originates from Western Switzerland has been historically used for dairy, beef and as draught animals.
The average weight for Bulls is around 1,100kgs and for cows it’s 700kgs. Simmental’s were introduced into Australia in 1972 have since adapted to Australia’s wide range of environments and production systems. The Australian Simmental is characterised by:
- Reaching market weight young and early which reduces annual stocking pressure.
- The leaner, highly muscled Simmental produces higher yields of saleable beef.
